Baba Ramdev renews fast


 Baba Ramdev who wanted to restart his aborted fast was not allowed inside Uttar Pradesh by the Mayawati ministry. He had planned the venue at Noida which is on the borders of Delhi. He then began his Sathyagraha in his Haridwar ashram. Meanwhile the BJP has decided to ask President to convene a special Parliament session to discuss the Ramdev eviction. On the sidelines, the Supreme Court has sent a notice to the Centre on the same issue.
Taking suo motu cognizance of forceful eviction of yoga guru Baba Ramdev and his followers the Supreme Court issued notices to Delhi administration asking the reasons for the midnight eviction. It refused to entertain a PIL in this regard.
“We would seek the intervention of the President. We would meet her this evening. L K Advani had yesterday said that the BJP will demand a special session of Parliament to discuss the issue,” BJP chief spokesperson Ravishankar Prasad said. BJP has launched a nationwide protest.
Advani, Gadkari, Sushma Swaraj, Arun Jaitley were among a host of leaders who were at Rajghat the satyagraha site where BJP is holding a fast.
Indian students in US submitted a memorandum to the Indian President at the Washington embassy . The memorandum was signed by Indian students at University of Maryland (UMD), and represented three different organisations – Indian Student Groups at UMD, College Park; DESI (Develop, Empower and Synergize India) and Students Council of India.
“By failing to curb corruption, and by denying the constitutional rights to its citizens, we believe that the government has lost moral authority and people’s faith, and should be dismissed with immediate effect,” it said.
